26 goals in five matches with wins for leaders Ards, Quins, Garvey and Mossley… Ulster Premier League hockey weekend round-up and senior league results

Lisnagarvey make their EYHL2 debut against UCC

THE top two top scored in a weekend goal rush in the Legacy Wealth Management Premier League.

Newly-promoted Larne shipped seven to league leaders Ards while second placed Belfast Harlequins hit Ballymoney for six.

Ards’ 7-1 win at Larne  maintained their unbeaten start to the season to stay top on goal difference from Quins with a game in hand.

The win keeps the side top of the league, but only by goal difference, as they remain level on points with Belfast Harlequins with a game in hand.

Two goals from Zara Malseed sent Ards on their way at Larne Grammar School.

By half time they were comfortably 4-0 in front with further goals from  Emma Reid and Alyssa Boyd.

In cruise control in the second half, Alana Doyle added a fifth, teen Alana Thornton netted her first Premier League goal and Susie Cotter made it seven.

Alyssa Jebb bagged a hat-trick as Quins defeated Ballymoney 6-1 at Deramore Park to maintain their challenge.

It was level at half-time with Ballymoney’s Becky Linford cancelling out Kate Larmour’s opener for Quins.

But Quins stepped up a gear after the break with Alyssa’s Jebb’s quickfire hat-trick, a second for Kate Larmour and Megan Getty completing the 6-1 win.

Third-placed Lisnagarvey overcame local rivals Banbridge 3-2 at Comber Road.

Garvey were twice pegged back in a close encounter with Lauren Mulholland putting them ahead and league top scorer Stef Ardis levelling for Banbridge with her eighth goal of the season.

Beth Ravey restored Garvey’s lead with her seventh strike of the season, quickly cancelled out by Cliona Cochrane to make it 2-2, going into the final quarter.

Scarlett Swann’s first goal of the season saw Garvey lead for a third time and this time they held firm for the 3-2 win.

Mossley overcame Lurgan 3-1, with Reah Little opening the scoring in the first quarter and sealing the win with her second either side of Anna Glassey netting. Lydia McNeill scored Lurgan’s consolation.

Omagh picked up their first point of the season as they drew 1-1 with Armagh.
