THE KPMG Women’s Irish Open has been recognised with two major honours at the Ladies European Tour (LET) Awards, held in London.

Voted on by the LET players, the tournament won both the Tournament of the Year and Best Course Condition. This is a great honour for the event which showcases that it is one of the best events of the year on the LET calendar.

The 2024 KPMG Women’s Irish Open took place at Carton House, Fairmont in September 2024, which was ran by the event promoters ForeFront Group in partnership with the LET.

The Tournament of the Year award is voted on by the players, based on their overall experience of the event. Winning this title is a great honour, as it reflects the event’s excellence in all aspects, from organisation and atmosphere to the quality of the course and the experience provided for both players and fans.

Carton House, Fairmont proved to be an outstanding venue for the event in its first year, earning the award for Best Course Condition.

This award, also voted on by the players, highlights the dedication and hard work of the greenkeeping team in maintaining the course to such a high standard. It emphasises the exceptional quality of the course, solidifying its reputation as a championship-level venue and one of the finest parkland courses in Ireland.

Tournament Director, Simon Honan said: “We were delighted to receive the award for Tournament of the Year and Best Course Condition at this year’s LET Awards in London.

“The fact that this is voted by players and staff, it speaks volumes to what we staged at the beautiful O’Meara course at Carton House in August last year.

“The event came back on the schedule in 2022 at Dromoland Castle and since then, there has been thousands of people involved in the event from venue staff, to sponsors, to volunteers, that should all take pride in this award for their hard work and dedication to making it the best event in Europe.”

John Plummer, Carton House Course Superintendent, added: “This award for Best Course Condition at the KPMG Women’s Irish Open, as voted by the players, is a true testament to the dedication, expertise, and tireless efforts of the entire greenkeeping team here at Carton House.

“Their commitment to presenting the O’Meara course in pristine condition made this achievement possible. It’s incredibly rewarding to see their hard work acknowledged by some of the players of the LET. Over the years, we have hosted numerous events at Carton House, and the LET team and players were one of the best groups we’ve worked with. We’re excited to keep raising the bar as we look ahead to delivering world-class conditions for the 2025 event.”
